  1. Hey guys, Thanks for the interview!
    To answer your questions about the ribbon corrugation, the foil is corrugated like an accordion so that it acts like a small spring. This spring force allows the ribbon to be installed in the magnet gap with some dynamic tension so that it doesn’t flop around like a sail, or get stretched so tight that you lose low-frequency response.

  2. Nice interview with Rick Wilkinson. In the spirit of full disclosure, I’m an old friend of Rick’s and have been involved in the testing of his ribbon mics…and I own a stereo ribbon he built for me.
